European Mink - Biology and Conservation

Mission

The objectives of the "Lutreola" are:

  • To contribute to the preservation of biological diversity both in situ and ex situ, following the Convention on Biological Diversity.
  • To focus the conservation activities on research, management and policies.
  • To increase public awareness of the problems connected with the use and conservation of species.
  • To initiate, carry out and support relevant species conservation projects.

The foundation "Lutreola" is based on clearly defined projects or programmes. Since 1999 a long-term general project has been in progress, to organize the restoration and protection of European mink in Estonia, and promote the conservation of this species elsewhere in the world. Seeking resources for the whole project, we have divided it into smaller sub-projects in chronological sequence, which all have the same goal.
